Gosling wins Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical for his performance in 'La La Land', while Davis is named Best Supporting Actress for her role as Rose Maxson in 'Fences'.

AceShowbiz - Ryan Gosling took home a gong at the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, January 8. The 36 year-old Canadian actor was announced by Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn as Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical for his performance in Damien Chazelle-directed musical "La La Land".

"This isn't the first time I've been mistaken for Ryan Reynolds, but it's getting outta hand," Gosling jokingly said in his acceptance speech. "Damien and [Emma Stone], this belongs to the three of us. I'll chop it into three pieces if you want," he continued, before thanking the cast and crew of the movie as well as his family, including wife Eva Mendez.

Additionally, "La La Land" earned Best Screenplay for Chazelle. Benj Hasek and Justin Paul's "City of Stars" scored Best Original Song, while Justin Hurwitz was announced as a winner in Best Original Score for his work in the musical.

Also winning her/his first Golden Globe Award was Viola Davis. The 51-year-old actress was named Best Supporting actress for her role as Rose Maxson in Denzel Washington-starring/directed movie "Fences". She beat the likes of Naomi Harris, Nicole Kidman, Octavia Spencer and Michelle Williams.
