'The Night Manager' helps Tom Hiddleston win his first Golden Globe Award, while the first installment of 'American Crime Story' is named Best Limited Series.

AceShowbiz - "The People vs O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story" and "The Night Manager" are already big winners at the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards which is currently underway at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The former was named Best Limited Series and bagged an acting award for its star Sarah Paulson.

"American justice is anything but blind when race, gender and celebrity are involved," said producer Nina Jacobson in her speech, also noting that those issues are still relevant twenty years after the Simpson trial. The show defeated the likes of "American Crime" and "The Night Manager" for the prize.

The second trophy "People vs O.J. Simpson" bagged at the ceremony was Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for Paulson's portrayal of Marcia Clark. "Oh, my god, I feel like I'm going to faint," she said onstage. "I want to thank the HFPA for this incredible honor. You have always been so kind to me." She also thanked FX and the cast of the show.

Later, Olivia Colman was announced as the winner in Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her performance on "The Night Manager". It was another surprise win since "This Is Us" star Mandy Moore was a favorite to nab the honor. Colman, however, did not attend the ceremony, so presenters Kristen Bell and Cuba Gooding Jr. accepted the award on her behalf.

Colman's "The Night Manager" co-star Hugh Laurie also took home an award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. It was his third Golden Globe win. He previously won for "House M.D." in 2006 and 2007.

In his speech, Laurie made some sarcastic jokes. "Thank you first of all to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this amazing honor. I suppose it's made more amazing by the fact that I'll be able to say I won this at the last ever Golden Globes," he said. "I don't mean to be gloomy. It's just that it has the words 'Hollywood,' 'foreign,' and 'press' in the title. I also think that to some Republicans, even the word 'association' is slightly sketchy." He continued, "So I accept this award on behalf of psychopathic billionaires everywhere."

Dominating the nomination list with five nods, "The Night Manager" grabbed its third award at the ceremony through Tom Hiddleston's win. The British actor won the Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television Award, which marked his first Golden Globe win.

"This is lovely, thank you," the "Thor" baddie said in his acceptance speech. He dedicated the award to humanitarian aid workers in Sudan. His miniseries, based on a 1993 novel by John le Carre, is about the secret arms trade in the country.
