AceShowbiz - Hulu drops the first teaser for its new series "The Handmaid's Tale". "Mad Men" alum Elisabeth Moss plays a key character who is captured and forced into servitude by an oppressive government. She once had a husband and child but they were taken from her. "My name is Offred, and I intend to survive," she says.
Set in a dystopian future, the upcoming show takes place in the fictional world of the Republic of Gilead. In the male-dominated totalitarian society, women are forced into sexual servitude. Referred to as "handmaids," they are nothing more than just wives, servants, or breeders.
The web series is also supported by Alexis Bledel, Samira Wiley, Joseph Fiennes, and Yvonne Strahovski. It is scheduled to premiere on April 26 on Hulu.
