In the cover story for the February issue of the magazine, the 'Passengers' actor reveals how he dropped his weight and changed his physique after being called 'too fat' for 'Moneyball' role.

AceShowbiz - Chris Pratt had his breakout role on "Parks and Recreation", on which he played the lovable overweight musician named Andy Dwyer. In the cover story for the February issue of Vanity Fair magazine, the 37-year-old actor has revealed how he finally changed his physique and even got those toned shoulders and chest.

Pratt says that he dropped his weight after being called "too fat" for "Moneyball" role. "That was the first time I heard someone say, 'We're not gonna cast you - you're too fat,' " he shares. "So I decided to drop the weight, like in wrestling. I couldn't afford a trainer, so it was all running and crash-dieting and cutting alcohol."

The husband of Anna Faris also reveals that he had always wanted to play an action hero but did not think he could do it until he made a change with his role in "Zero Dark Thirty". He says he got serious about training and getting buff when he played a SEAL Team Six member. "That's the first time I bulked up, got into great shape because I was playing a navy SEAL," he shares.

Talking about "Guardians Of The Galaxy", Pratt reveals that he initially passed on the role of Peter Quill in the James Gunn-directed superhero flick. He says he took the role after his agent reminded him that it was exactly the type of role that he always wanted.

"I'm going to go in there and do exactly what I mean by action comedy. My brand of stuff. Brash. Honest. I played the room," he adds. "Once you get smart about auditioning, you learn to audition before they say 'Action.' You walk into the room as the character. You let them think the person you are is close to the character they want. You make them think you already are that guy."

Pratt stars opposite Jennifer Lawrence in sci-fi flick "Passengers (2016)", which is still playing in theatres. He will reprise his role as Peter Quill a.k.a. Star Lord in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2", which is due out May 5 in theaters across the U.S.
