The Cleveland rapper said that Camila was such 'an innocent girl' and it was 'odd' that the exit announcement was made on the same day they received gold plaque for 'Bad Things'.

AceShowbiz - Camila Cabello's collaborator Machine Gun Kelly has spoken out on her surprising departure from vocal group Fifth Harmony. In a recent radio interview with iHeartRadio, MGK spilled his guts about the split.

"I know Camila, there is no like trickery going on. There's no behind-the-back stuff," he said. He added, "Camila's such a strong person, but she's an innocent young girl... It was odd that it happened on the day that we got our gold plaque for 'Bad Things'. It seems like, the way it played out, it wasn't great timing... but I know that it was all so genuine."

MGK also had a message for the remaining 5H members. "Camila and I have our relationship and I don't have a relationship with them. I just don't like seeing someone like that get almost get picked on, I guess," he said. He added, "This isn't something that started in a garage together. This was put together. So be grateful for the years that it was. Be happy for what's to come."

MGK has joined Shawn Mendes to voice his support for Camila. Shawn previously took to Twitter on Tuesday, December 20 to defend Camila's statement. He quoted a portion of Camila's letter to fans as he tweeted, " 'Pursue what makes your heart pound, happiness is our responsibility' beautifully said."

In other Camila-related news, Fifth Harmony's label, Epic Records, revealed that it had been working with Camila for "the better part" of 2016 on creating a solo album. According to Billboard, the 19-year-old songbird had reportedly been in the studio with Benny Blanco and Diplo as well as other notable songwriters and producers.

While 5H has no plans to change anything about their identity, Camila was rumored to change her name for post-Fifth Harmony solo career. "One thing that is pretty much concrete is how Camila is going to move on with her career, as far as her name is concerned," a source told HollywoodLife.com, "Just like Beyonce and Madonna, moving forward, she is looking to take the one name treatment for her future as well and just be known as Camila."

According to a source, Camila's first solo single could be out as soon as March or April with an album in the summer.
