The 91-year-old actor has confirmed that he will make a cameo appearance in the sequel to his 1964 'Mary Poppins'.

AceShowbiz - "Mary Poppins Returns" will feature a cameo appearance from one of the original cast members of 1964's "Mary Poppins". In latest "Creative Until You Die" story of The Hollywood Reporter, Dick Van Dyke has confirmed that he will appear opposite Emily Blunt in the upcoming sequel.

"This one supposedly takes place 20 years later and the kids are all grown up," the 91-year-old actor said. "It's a great cast - Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury and that guy from 'Hamilton'," he added, referring to Lin-Manuel Miranda, who will portray a new character, a street lamplighter named Jack.

Van Dyke apparently won't reprise his role as the beloved Bert, as the upcoming movie takes place 20 years later and younger actress Blunt will portray the magical nanny. Meanwhile the now-grown Jane Banks and her brother Michael will be played by Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw respectively. Colin Firth was recently reported to be in talks to play the villain named William Weatherall Wilkins.

The sequel is set in Depression-era London. It follows a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, who along with Michael's three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

Directed by Rob Marshall from a screenplay by Oscar nominee David Magee, "Mary Poppins Returns" will arrive in U.S. theaters on December 25, 2018.
