'Homeland' Season 6 Full Trailer: Quinn Is Awake
TV

The upcoming season of the political thriller tackles the tense transition period for a president-elect and minority issues.

AceShowbiz - Showtime has released the first full trailer for "Homeland" season 6 that is terrifyingly relevant with the political situation in the U.S. right now. The new season is set over the course of 72 days between the election, which is dubbed "the most difficult transition of power in history."

The president-elect (Elizabeth Marvel) is calling for the "wholesale reform of the CIA" and despises Saul (Mandy Patinkin) and Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham), while the country is facing a new threat of terrorism.

Meanwhile, Carrie (Claire Danes) is now working at a foundation that provides aid to Muslims living in the U.S. When a black man is accused of motivating people to attack the country, Carrie steps up to defend him and once again is caught in the act of counter-terrorism.

Interestingly, Saul is later excluded from a meeting with Dar Adal and other important figures in the field, and someone says that it's "probably for the best." Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) is still not seen in the video, but at least we now know that he is awaken as he says at the end of it, "What happened to me?"

The sixth season of the political thriller is set six months after Carrie thwarted a terrorist attack in Berlin and takes place in the period of time between election day and the inauguration. It's a strange, transitional time in the halls of government filled with anxiety and different competing interests, where a very fragile and complex transfer of power takes place between the outgoing president and the incoming president-elect.

The new season premieres Sunday, January 15 at 9 P.M. ET on Showtime.
