The third and final season of the HBO drama, which stars Justin Theroux and Amy Brenneman, is set to premiere in spring 2017.

AceShowbiz - "The Leftovers" creators Damon Lindelof and Tom Perotta have revealed when the show will return. Through a video posted on the series' official Twitter account, it's announced that the eight-episode third and final season of the mystery drama series would debut in April 2017.

"The Leftovers" is based on Perotta's book of the same name and follows the aftermath of a global event that sees millions of people vanish from Earth without explanation. The majority of the third season of the series was filmed in Australia. The final season will pick up where it left off last season in Texas before going Down Under.

The series stars Justin Theroux as Kevin Garvey Jr., Amy Brenneman as Laurie Garvey, Christopher Eccleston as Matt Jamison, Liv Tyler as Megan Abbott, Chris Zylka as Tommy Garvey, Margaret Qualley as Jill Garvey, Carrie Coon as Nora Durst, Regina King as Erika Murphy and many others. They're all set to return for the final season.

"The Leftovers" is executive produced by Lindelof, Perotta, Mimi Leder, Tom Spezialy, Gene Kelly, Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey. The series is produced for HBO by White Rabit in association with Warner Bros Television.
