The 'In the Night' hitmaker has set a new record for the most streams in one day on the music streaming platform, beating out his fellow Canadian singer.

AceShowbiz - The Weeknd just released his much-anticipated new album "Starboy" last week on Friday, November 25. And now, Spotify confirms that the Canadian singer has set the new record for the most streams in a single day on its platform.

In a press release, Republic Record Chairman and Co-Founder Monte Lipman said, "We can confirm that as of November 26, The Weeknd is now the artist with the most streams on Spotify in a single day."

Meanwhile, Spotify Global Head of Creator Services Troy Carter said, "[Spotify] is proud to have partnered with The Weeknd, his management and Republic Records on a phenomenal album." He added, "We look forward to breaking even more records together in the near future."

According to the music streaming giant, The Weeknd broke the record on Friday, November 25, although the new streaming benchmark isn't available yet. The "Can't Feel My Face" hitmaker beats his fellow Canadian singer Justin Bieber, whose music earned 36 million streams on November 13, 2015, the day he released his fourth studio album "Purpose".

This May, Drake became Spotify's most streamed artist of all time. The "Hotline Bling" hitmaker also broke another record in October as his "One Dance" became the platform's most streamed song ever, beating out Major Lazer and DJ Snake's "Lean On" featuring MO.

The Weeknd's third studio album "Starboy" features appearances from Daft Punk, Future, Lana Del Rey and rapper Kendrick Lamar. The album serves as the follow-up to last year's "Beauty Behind the Madness" which made a No. 1 debut on Billboard 200 with 412,000 equivalent album units.
