The 'Justice League' actress, who earlier this year accused her ex Johnny Depp of abusing her, shares her personal story and urges other women who are in abusive relationships to 'speak up.'

AceShowbiz - Amber Heard knows a lot about domestic violence, so she decides to speak up against it a new PSA released on Friday, November 25. Created in partnership with #GirlGaze Project, the video shows the actress holding back tears as she shares her personal story with viewers.
Heard, who earlier this year accused her ex Johnny Depp of abusing her during their four-year relationship, starts the 2-minute clip by saying in front of the camera, "How is this happening to me? You know? I'm strong. I'm smart. I'm not a victim."
"I guess there was a lot of shame attached to that, the label of victim. It happens to so many women you know, when it happens in your home behind closed doors with someone you love it's not straightforward," she continues. "If a stranger did this, it would be a no brainer."
She notes that having some friends she could talk to really helped her deal with the abuse. "If I hadn't had a few people that I really trust around me - a few women, a few friends - if I didn't have them around me, how different my life would be," she shares.
She goes on to urge other women who are going through the same situation to "speak up." "I have a unique opportunity to remind other women not only that this doesn't have to be the way it is, you don't have to do it alone. You're not alone. And also, we can change this," she tells viewers.
Heard filed for divorce from Depp last summer, just 15 months after they got married. A few days later, she filed a domestic violence restraining order against the actor and released photos of her with bruises which she said were caused by Depp.
The former lovers settled their divorce months later, with Depp donating Heard's $7 million settlement to charities with "a particular focus to stop violence against women."
