It surpasses previous two records set by "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" trailers. The trailer for the follow-up to "Fifty Shades of Grey" was viewed 114 million times in its first day, while the trailer for the Daisy Ridley-led movie had 112 million views.

According to the studio, talent support of the launch accounted for over 29 million views on Facebook alone. It was led by 27 million views on the page of "Beauty and the Beast" lead actress Emma Watson, who plays Belle. On YouTube, the trailer was viewed 9.8 million times.

The studio also noted that back in May, the teaser trailer for the Bill Condon-directed live-action movie was viewed 91.8 million times. It broke the record of 88 million views for "The Force Awakens" teaser trailer.

"Beauty and the Beast" is set for a March 17, 2017 release in U.S. theaters. It also stars Dan Stevens as the titular cursed prince. Other cast members include Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Kevin Kline, Emma Thompson, Ian McKellen, Ewan McGregor and Stanley Tucci.
