The former Disney star films herself getting emotional as she explains why she accepts the new president and asks him to start treating people with 'love,' 'compassion' and 'respect.'

AceShowbiz - Miley Cyrus is as heartbroken as millions of other U.S citizens are after Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election. But unlike many of them, the former Disney darling has accepted the 70-year-old's surprising victory.

Miley, who supported Hillary Clinton, posted on Twitter Wednesday, November 9 a video of her crying as she explained her decision and begged the new president to treat people with love. "So, probably like most people - well, maybe not, because given the result - maybe I really am different and maybe a lot of people that I'm surrounded by think with open minds and open hearts like I do," she said in front of the camera.

"And I do want to say that I've been very vocal for my support for everyone besides Donald Trump. Heavily supported Bernie. Heavily supported Hillary," she continued. "And I still think that in her lifetime she deserves to be the first female president, and that's what makes me so sad."

"I just wish that she had that opportunity because she fought for so long and because I believe her when she says that she loves this country," she shared. "This is all she's ever done. She's given her life to make it better. But, like Donald Trump so ironically played after his speech, it said, 'You can't always get what you want.' "

"And happy hippies, we adjust and we accept everyone for who they are. And so Donald Trump, I accept you," she added. "And this hurts to say, but I even accept you as the President of the United States, and that's fine... because I think now I want to be hopeful."

She went on to thank Barack Obama for everything he'd done in the past eight years and share an important message to Trump. "Please, please just treat people with love and treat people with compassion and treat people with respect, and I will do the same for you," she pleaded.

"And anyway, anything you ever want to talk about or understand, maybe people that don't think the same way that you and some of the people that support you do, please, if you want to open your mind and open your heart, I would love to give you a key," she said before concluding the video by telling Clinton, "Thank you, Hillary, for inspiring us."

Miley was one of a bunch of celebrities who got disappointed by Trump's unexpected win. Prior to the November 8 election, the "Wrecking Ball" had numerous times blasted the real-estate mogul and had even threatened to leave the U.S. if he won. "Honestly f**k this s**t I am moving if this is my president! I don't say things I don't mean!" she once wrote on Instagram.
