ABC opts against ordering more episodes of the legal drama starring Atwell, and Freeform decides not to renew the teen horror series from 'Once Upon a Time' creators for a second season.

AceShowbiz - The case is closed for "Conviction". The new series starring Hayley Atwell won't get additional episodes this season. ABC ordered 13 episodes of the freshman drama, but has reportedly opted against giving it a back nine episode order.

The remaining episodes will still air, though it has not been determined if it will stay in its Mondays at 10 P.M. time slot. ABC still holds season 2 options on the show and the cast as a source tells Variety that an "official" decision has not been made by the network.

"Conviction", starring Atwell as the daughter of a former president who is now taking on the cases of the wrongly convicted, was never off to a strong start. The series premiere only drew a 0.9 rating in the coveted 18-49 demo. The latest episode which aired Monday, November 7 collected 3.6 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in the demo.

Another rookie suffering the same fate is "Dead of Summer". The teen horror series from "Once Upon a Time" creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis has been canceled by Freeform after just one season.

The show, about a summer of terror at a summer camp for teens, failed to attract viewers despite getting a strong boost from "Pretty Little Liars", airing on Tuesdays at 9 P.M. after the long-running series. It didn't help that most TV critics gave "Dead of Summer" negative reviews upon its release.
