At the 'Gilmore Girls' Fan Festival, casting director Jami Rudofsky recalls the time she brought in a handsome young star to audition for a small role on the show.

AceShowbiz - Ryan Gosling made his big break in 2004's movie "The Notebook", but he could've been someone teenagers in early 2000s were familiar with prior to that. During the "Gilmore Girls" Fan Festival in Washington Depot, Connecticut, casting director Jami Rudofsky revealed how the "La La Land" actor was almost cast on the show.

Asked whether there were any actors she saw as "the one who got away" in terms of casting, she began telling the story about a handsome young star she'd cast in an independent film before she began working on the comedy-drama series. "I rolled my eyes because he was late, and he was blond," she said, before seeing him audition.

After the audition, however, she thought that he was "amazing," so she brought him in to audition for a small role, which Rudofsky described as "a football character", for "Gilmore Girls". Unfortunately, he failed to impress the casting couch. "Everyone was like, 'Really, Jami?' " she shared.

That handsome young actor was Gosling. And that's how close the Canadian hunk was to join the show.

Another fun fact revealed during the festival is that the fictional town of Stars Hollow was inspired by the small town of Washington Depot where the event was held. During her stay at the nearby Mayflower Inn, series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino saw how the inhabitants all seemed to know each other and many grew up and went to school together.

"Gilmore Girls" revival will arrive November 25 on Netflix. Many of the original stars, including Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop, Melissa McCarthy, Scott Patterson, Yanic Truesdale, Jared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia, Keiko Agena, Matt Czuchry and Danny Strong, are back for "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life".
