The '212' hitmaker issues an emotional apology letter to the 'Pillowtalk' hitmaker over racist remarks she made back in May.

AceShowbiz - Azealia Banks has penned an emotional apology letter to Zayn Malik over racist remarks she made back in May. The "212" hitmaker took to Instagram and Facebook on Friday, October 21 to share the letter.

"I chose to share this letter on social media as I offended not only Zayn but may other people," she explained, "I have learnt to admit my wrongs and how to take accountability for my actions. I'm sorry."

In her letter, Azealia said, "Dear Zayn, There are no words that can fully express how sorry I am. Recent events have taught me the importance of taking accountability for ones actions. I want and need to say I am sorry, I was wrong."

"As a black woman, in America, I sometimes forget that there are words and comments that hurt other communities," she went on, "At times, I am so consumed by my own struggle, and the struggle of my race, that I forget to consider the hardships other minorities continue to endure. Coming from an ethnicity that is largely discriminated against does not warrant a license to use derogatory, abusive terminology nor does it give me the right to make hurtful remarks."

"I apologise not only to you, Zayn, but to all those I hurt and offended. I am not cruel, nor am I heartless or vindictive. There is a lot of love in my heart and there is good in my soul. What I did was wrong and I am committed to becoming a better person."

She concluded her letter by praising Zayn and asking for his forgiveness. "Throughout my transgressions you remained a gentleman and I applaud you for displaying class and maintaining a level head," she wrote, "The world can learn a lot from you and I hope you find room in your heart to accept my sincerest apologies."

Azealia's apology to Zayn came amidst her ongoing feud with Russell Crowe following a hotel altercation. The "Ice Princess" rapper recently revealed that she wanted to stop being a "crazy girl" following Zayn feud.

"My mother has never reprimanded me but she reprimanded me after the thing with Zayn [Malik] happened," she told Evening Standard, "She was like, 'Azealia, you hurt a lot of people.' I was like, 'f**k.' It finally reconciled these two conflicting thoughts I had about being real and being professional. I realized you're not keeping it real by being a crazy girl. You don't lose anything by keeping your mouth shut. So maybe it's time to stop being a crazy girl."

"You know sometimes you get carried away when you're joking. There's this crude, ignorant, mixed-up New York City humor where people call each other all kinds of f**ked-up s**t. I use the N-word all the time. I was being stupid, not trying to be hurtful. But there was a point to be made about being stolen from and then having to be the black person defending your blackness. Sometimes you just lose it," she added.
