Not Cool, Alex Trebek! The 'Jeopardy!' Host Calls Contestant 'Loser' for Her 'Nerdy' Hobby

The veteran game-show host angers a lot of people when he makes fun of a contestant's favorite music genre, calling it music for 'losers.'

AceShowbiz - Alex Trebek found himself on the receiving end of criticisms after slamming a "Jeopardy!" contestant for her "nerdy" musical hobby. The game-show host was introducing Susan Cole, a legislative librarian from Bowie, Maryland, when he made fun of her favorite music genre, nerdcore hip-hop.

"Her favorite type of music is something I've never heard of, but it doesn't sound like fun," he said. Cole insisted, "I think it's very fun. It's called nerdcore hip-hop. It's people who identify as nerdy, rapping about the things they love - video games, science fiction, having a hard time meeting romantic partners. It's really catchy and fun."

"Losers, in other words," Trebek quipped in response. Cole laughed it off before saying, "Sure." Trebek quickly added, "I'm teasing you."

While Trebek indicated he wasn't serious with his "losers" remark, people were not okay with it. "Alex Trebek on #Jeopardy calling nerds 'losers' is the STUPIDEST thing I've ever heard. Those 'losers' GIVE YOU A JOB," one person wrote on Twitter. Another added, "What the hell were you thinking, Alex Trebek? You should have been nerdcore's hero but now we have to destroy you."

Nerd rapper Mega Ran also hit back at the host in a video posted on Twitter. "Talking sideways on geeks, man, you a trip. Guess you haven't heard, nerds make up half of your viewership," he rapped. "This host gets roasted on 'SNL' yearly. Hosts a show for nerds and doesn't know it, clearly."

Cole did get more than a consolation prize after Trebek's joke. She won first place on the game show and took home $22,600.
