The 71-year-old actress hints at her character's connection to the rogue special forces assassin by saying that she 'was in the same ambulance with Statham' instead of 'driving the bloody cars.'

AceShowbiz - While details about Helen Mirren's role in "Fast and Furious 8" are being kept under tight wraps, the 71-year-old actress hints at her character's connection to Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw. In recent interview with Variety, Mirren said that she was in the same ambulance with Statham instead of "driving the bloody cars."

"I'm always looking for something that's a bit different from my last gig. But I don't plan my career. I never have. It's potluck, really, what happens to come along," she began, before adding, "But I had always had a secret hankering to do 'Fast and Furious', because I love driving cars."

Mirren went on to tease that her mystery character had ties with the Shaw family, including Luke Evans' Owen Shaw who was the main antagonist in "Fast and Furious 6". "Of course, when I finally got my chance, I wasn't driving the bloody car," she said. "I was in the back of an ambulance with Jason Statham."

Statham's villainous character was locked away in a secret, high-security prison by Luke Hobbs (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) at the end of "Furious 7". In the eighth "Fast and Furious" movie, he will once again star alongside Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Elsa Pataky and Tyrese Gibson.

Directed by F. Gary Gray, "Fast and Furious 8" also stars Charlize Theron, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Kurt Russell and Lucas Black. The movie is coming to U.S. theaters on April 14, 2017.
