Gabrielle Union files a $1M lawsuit against BET, accusing the network of trying to lower her payday by combining two seasons of the show into one.

AceShowbiz - BET speaks out after Gabrielle Union sued the network over "Being Mary Jane" dispute. She accused the network of trying to avoid paying her contractual raise for the next season by cramming "all of the episodes into a single season in order to fraudulently extend the term of Ms. Union's contract."

"While we hold Gabrielle Union in the highest esteem, we feel strongly that we are contractually well within our rights and are committed to reaching a swift and positive resolution in this matter," a representative for BET says in response to her legal complaint.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Union is set to earn $150,000 per episode for "Mary Jane" season four and $165,000 for season five. She was assured that they'd shoot no more than 13 episodes for each season, but was later notified that all 20 episodes were slated as season four.

The actress is suing "for breach of contract and negligent misrepresentation." She is seeking at least $1 million in damages and she also demands her contract be amended so that no more than 13 episodes can be produced each season.
