'Blade Runner' Sequel Gets Official Title, Debuts First Behind-the-Scenes Picture

The title of the upcoming second installment of 'Blade Runner' gives a strong hint at the year the movie will take place.

AceShowbiz - The upcoming "Blade Runner" sequel announces official title. The long-gestating movie is titled "Blade Runner 2049", hinting at the year it will take place. The original film released in 1982, meanwhile, took place in 2019.

While the plot is still kept under tight wraps, a behind-the-scenes picture has been released to give a look at the main stars Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling. The duo is joined by director Denis Villeneuve and producer Ridley Scott.

The second installment of "Blade Runner" is scheduled to hit theaters across the country starting October 6, 2017. Ford reprises his role as Rick Deckard. Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto join the cast members as well.

The movie takes place several decades after the events of the first film about a retired member of a police officer corps called blade runners who hunted down replicants on Earth.
