Clip From 'Suicide Squad' Extended Version Features Harley Quinn's Backstory

The extended version of the David Ayer-directed flick promises a lot of never-before-seen footage which includes the scene that reveals the backstory of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn.

AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has unleashed a clip from the extended version of "Suicide Squad". The nearly-a-half-minute video features some never-before-seen footage including the scene that reveals the backstory of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn.

The clip shows the final moment of Dr. Harleen Quinzel before she transforms into the villainous Harley Quinn. She can be seen standing in front of a car, which presumably belongs to Jared Leto's The Joker. Will Smith's Deadshot is heard saying, "Stay evil, doll face. Spread the word."

It's still unclear how much extra footage will be included in the extended version, but Jared Leto stated back in August that several scenes of his character were also cut. He even addressed his disappointment during an interview with IGN. "Were there any that didn't get cut? I'm asking you, were there any that didn't get cut?" he said.

"There were so many scenes that got cut from the movie, I couldn't even start," the frontman of 30 Seconds to Mars continued before explaining, "We did a lot of experimentation on the set, we explored a lot. There's so much that we shot that's not in the film."

Robbie also confirmed that both she and Leto had filmed several missing scenes. "We filmed so much of our backstory," she told Tipsy Talk. "They probably realized that the emotional through-line of the story had to be the mission that we were on, and explaining the Enchantress' position and all that kind of stuff."

"And the [Harley and Joker] backstory stuff, though it's magic and some of the stuff we shot was insane, they are flashbacks," she added. "So there's a lot, but it just didn't make sense to confuse the present storyline to incorporate all that."

Also starring Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Cara Delevingne and Viola Davis, the extended version of "Suicide Squad" is available on Digital HD on November 15 and Blu-ray on December 13.
