The 'Kick-Ass' actress is set to star in Luca Guadagnino's new retelling of Dario Argento's classic horror flick after dropping out of Disney's live-action adaptation of 'The Little Mermaid'.

AceShowbiz - Chloe Moretz has been tapped to star in Luca Guadagnino's "Suspiria" horror remake. Variety has reported that the Hit-Girl of the "Kick-Ass" movie series will join the likes of Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson and Mia Goth in Frenesy Film Company and Mythology Entertainment's new retelling of Dario Argento's classic horror flick.

David Kajganich, the scribe of Guadagnino's "A Bigger Splash", is penning the screenplay based on the pic written by Argento and Daria Nicolodi. Guadagnino and Kajganich will also produce alongside Brad Fischer, Francesco Melzi d'Eril, Gabriele Moratti, William Sherak, and Silvia Venturini Fendi. Production on the movie is expected to begin this month in Italy and Hungary.

Based on the 1977 movie from the Italian horror master, it centers on a young ballet dancer who travels to a prestigious dance academy in Europe, only to discover it is a front for something far more sinister and supernatural amidst a series of increasingly grisly murders.

Moretz was previously attached to Disney's live-action movie "The Little Mermaid (2019)", but she dropped out of the project. She told The Hollywood Reporter, "I pulled the plug on all my movies because I want to reassess who I am and find myself within my roles again. I'm realizing that I can slow down."

The 19-year-old actress is no stranger to starring in horror movies. She appeared in 2013's "Carrie" opposite Julianne Moore, in Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows" along with Johnny Depp and Eva Green, as well as in Mat Reeves' "Let Me In". She was recently seen showing off her comedic skills in "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising".
