Colin Trevorrow Says 'Jurassic World 2' Will Have More Scares and Animatronic Dinosaurs
Movie

The producer, who directed 'Jurassic World', explains that the sequel won't be about 'bigger better dinosaurs' or 'bigger action sequences,' but it will rather be scarier and 'more suspenseful.'

AceShowbiz - Colin Trevorrow has shed some light on what to expect from "Jurassic World 2". The executive producer, who helmed "Jurassic World", told Jurassic Outpost that the sequel didn't need to be "bigger," but it would rather be scarier and more suspenseful. "It's not about 'bigger better dinosaurs' or 'bigger action sequences,' " he said.

"It will be more suspenseful and scary," Trevorrow, who also co-wrote the script with Derek Connolly, explained. "It's just the way it's designed, it's the way the story plays out. I knew I wanted [J.A. Bayona] to direct it long before anyone ever heard that was a possibility, so the whole thing was just built around his skillset."

Trevorrow went on to talk about more animatronic dinosaurs that will be featured in the sequel. "I think the lack of animatronics in 'Jurassic World' had more to do with the physicality of the Indominus," he said. "We've written some opportunities for animatronics into [Jurassic World 2] - because it has to start at the script level - and I can definitely tell you that Bayona has the same priorities."

"We'll follow the same general rule as all of the films in the franchise which is the animatronic dinosaurs are best used when standing still or moving at the hips or the neck," he added. "They can't run or perform complex physical actions, and anything beyond that you go to animation. The same rules applied in 'Jurassic Park'."

During the interview, Trevorrow was joined by Bayona. "I was very surprised by the story," the helmer said. He went on to tease fans by saying, "There are things you really don't expect and it is very exciting."

Production on the second "Jurassic World" movie is expected to begin on February 27, 2017 in Hawaii for a June 22, 2018 in U.S. theaters. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return for the sequel, which will serve as the second chapter in a new trilogy. According to Jurassic Outpost, "Jurassic World 2" does have a title, but it remains secret.
