'Grey's Anatomy' 13.02 Preview: Alex Faces Trial
TV

Meredith and other doctors will choose side as Alex deals with the repercussions of his actions.

AceShowbiz - Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) made a shocking move in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 premiere. [SPOILER ALERT!] After beating up DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) thinking that he saved Jo (Camilla Luddington) from the man who was about to rape her, he initially refused to take responsibility and only confessed about it to Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), who helped cover his action.

After finding out what really happened, that DeLuca was just helping a very drunk Jo get into bed to sleep, Meredith told hospital chief Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) that Alex was the one who attacked DeLuca. But before Bailey took action, Alex decided to turn himself in to the police.

As seen in a preview for the next episode, Alex faces trial as the repercussions of his actions. Other doctors at the Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital will be divided as they choose side in this case. Meredith continues to show her support for Alex, but Bailey tells her that they don't need "to go down with him."

Meanwhile, newlyweds Amelia and Owen host a dinner party with unlikely guests, and Jackson proposes an arrangement to help April through her recovery.

"Catastrophe and the Cure" airs Thursday, September 29 at 8/7c on ABC.

Justin Chambers has talked to EW about Alex's decision to turn himself in. "His mindset is that he wants to be married, and he's in love with Jo, and he wants to be her husband, and he wants her to be his wife, and she hasn't given him an answer. DeLuca was just an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire, and Alex has a lot of rage. He's got a lot to be rageful about," he explains.

Of how Alex feels right now, Chambers says, "He's just trying to pick up the pieces and try to glue it back together." While he's not sure how the incident will affect Alex's medical license, the actor believes that he's "got to find redemption."
