While the LAPD is not investigating the child abuse allegation against Brad Pitt, the case allegedly remains open at Department of Children and Family Service.

AceShowbiz - LAPD denies reports that they are investigating Brad Pitt for alleged child abuse. The rumor mill emerged after Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from the actor after 12 years together and 2 years of marriage citing "irreconcilable differences."

"LAPD is not handling any report or allegations into child abuse for Mr. Brad Pitt," the LAPD said. However, a source told PEOPLE claimed, "The DCFS [Department of Children and Family Service] investigation is absolutely ongoing. Brad has been interviewed and is cooperating fully. The case remains open."

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt reportedly fought over parenting styles and his drinking issue. He allegedly became verbally and physically abusive towards at least one of the kids while under the influence of alcohol. The incident happened onboard a private plane.

A representative for the actor denied the child abuse allegations, "He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children. It's unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light."

Angelina said she's divorcing Brad for "the health of the family." She asked for the physical custody of their children and demanded judge give her estranged husband visitation rights only.
