The country music singer says she sprained a muscle in her rib cage during the season premiere and it got worse during rehearsal on Tuesday.

AceShowbiz - Just the first week into "Dancing with the Stars" season 23, one celebrity is already down. Jana Kramer suffered an injury during the live premiere on Monday, September 12 and it got worse during her rehearsal on Tuesday.

The country music star revealed she sprained a muscle in her rib cage during the season premiere. "I just pulled something and it continued to get worse," she tells E! News. And she "tweaked it again really bad" during her rehearsal with partner Gleb Savchenko the next day.

"I went to the doctor and he said I had torn some muscles in my rib cage," she says. "It's very painful, and it's hard to breath and move," she adds to PEOPLE. Her doctor suggested she should rest and not dance, but "that's not an option" for her.

She reveals her solution, "I'm going to go in the morning and get shots and take steroids. I'm not going to not dance. I'm not giving up on this."

The 32-year-old actress/singer also takes to Instagram to share update on her condition. "Getting ready for week 2 with @glebsavchenkoofficial @dancingabc #dwts (for those of you asking. I sprained my rib muscles but I'm a tough cookie and I'm gonna fight through it. Thanks for the love!!! )" she writes in a caption of her picture with Gleb.

Jana and Gleb are set to dance a tango to Gavin DeGraw's "I Don't Wanna Be" on Monday, September 19. While she's "so excited" about the routine, her partner is "worried" that her injury could affect the performance. "I'm worried because it's one of the things...you have to be careful. The injury can hold you back, there's a lot of things in the choreography we cannot do," he explains.

"DWTS" airs Mondays at 8 P.M. on ABC.
