Travis Scott's 'Birds' Helps Him Earn First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200

Scott's second studio album 'Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight' is the fifth Apple/iTunes exclusive to hit No. 1 in 2016.

AceShowbiz - Travis Scott (II) has reached a new milestone by posting his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. His second studio album "Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight" debuts atop the U.S. albums chart following its exclusive release on iTunes on September 2.

"Birds" sold 88,000 equivalent album units in the week ending September 8, including 53,000 in traditional album sales. His debut studio album "Rodeo" peaked at No. 3 on the chart in 2015, with 67,000 units sold in the first week.

As noted by Billboard, "Birds" is the fifth album which was initially released exclusively on Apple/iTunes to hit No. 1 in 2016. Previous Apple/iTunes exclusives to top the chart are Frank Ocean's "Blonde", DJ Khaled's "Major Key", Drake's "Views" and Future's "EVOL".

A Day to Remember's "Bad Vibrations" is the other newcomer that enters the top 10 this week. Selling 67,000 units (including 62,000 in pure album sales), it debuts at No. 2, the best for the rock band so far. The group's previous peak position on the chart was at No. 11 with "What Separates Me From You" in 2010.

Drake's "Views" is up one position to No. 3 with 60,000 units (down 50|percent|). The "Suicide Squad" soundtrack rises from No. 6 to No. 4 with 55,000 units (down 12|percent|). Florida Georgia Line's "Dig Your Roots" plunges from No. 2 to No. 5 with 42,000 units.

Last week's No. 1 "Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway" by Barbra Streisand dips to No. 6 with 41,000 units (down 73|percent|). Twenty One Pilots' "Blurryface" rises 10-7 with just more than 30,000 units. Rihanna's "Anti" is up one rung to No. 8 with 30,000 units (down 6|percent|). Beyonce Knowles' "Lemonade" loses two spots, placing ninth with nearly 30,000 units (down 21|percent|). Rounding out the top 10 is Frank Ocean's "Blonde" which sold another 29,000 units.
