Woodley, who plays lead character Tris in the first three 'Divergent' movies, says she's 'not necessarily interested in doing a television show.'

AceShowbiz - Back in July, there were reports that Lionsgate was considering to wrap up the "Divergent Series" with a TV movie and a spin-off series. While the studio has not confirmed it, star Shailene Woodley has given a response to whether she will join the TV continuation.

She tells Screen Rant during an interview promoting her new film "Snowden", "Last I heard they were trying to make it into a television show. I didn't sign up to be in a television show." She adds, "Out of respect to the studio and everyone in involved, they may have changed their mind and may be doing something different, but I'm not necessarily interested in doing a television show."

While Woodley doesn't give a definite answer, she likely won't return for a TV movie. The actress who plays Tris in the first three movies previously expressed surprise at the news. "Honestly, I was on a plane when all that happened, and I landed and I'm like, 'Whoa, what's going on?!' " she said last month. "I need to talk and find out what the details are."

Ansel Elgort hinted that he had no plans to return for a "Divergent" TV movie as he told The Huffington Post, "It's obviously sad because the cast all really liked each other, but hopefully we can all work together on a different project. I love Shailene and I love Theo [James] and everyone else in the cast. I'll miss [pause] we didn't say our goodbyes because we were expecting to do another one together."

Miles Teller was also surprised to learn of the potential transition to the small screen, but held off any decision until he found out the details of the project. "I've talked to nobody," Teller said earlier this month. "I found out 20 minutes before Variety printed it."

He added, "When we all signed on for the first one we had every intention of finishing it theatrically. We signed on for x amount of movies and you take that all into consideration. We wanted to see that storyline finish. You know, it's moving into a different format. So who knows?"

"The Divergent Series: Ascendant" was initially scheduled to begin filming last summer in Atlanta for a June 9, 2017 release. But the studio reportedly has had a change of heart and considered the transition after "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" became a big box office disappointment, earning just $66.2 million domestically.
