Also commemorating the 10-year anniversary of Steve's death, his dad Bob shares a long-lost letter the late star wrote to his parents back in 1998.

AceShowbiz - Steve Irwin's family makes sure he's not forgotten 10 years after his death. A decade after he was tragically killed in a stingray accident, his daughter Bindi Irwin and wife Terri Irwin took to their respective social media pages to pay touching tribute to him.

Bindi posted on Instagram over the Australian Father's Day weekend a throwback photo his dad widely smiling while holding her with one hand. "You'll be my hero for my entire existence. I love you more than words can describe," she captioned it.

Her mother Terri, meanwhile, shared on her Twitter page a picture of Steve posing with a crocodile next to Bindi and her brother Robert. "Happy Father's Day Australia. Hug your dad," she wrote alongside the snap.

Steve passed away in 2006 at the age of 44 after he got stabbed multiple times by a stingray while filming a documentary about the deadliest sea animals. When the incident happened, Bindi was just 8 years old and her brother was 2.

Steve's dad Bob Irwin has also commemorated the 10th anniversary of his son's death by sharing a letter the late star wrote to his parents. Steve penned it in 1998, but his parents only found it last year when it fell out off a book.

"Probably one of the most unfortunate things in a 'Bloke's Life' is that it takes over 30 years to realise how essential you have been to build my character, my ethics and, most importantly, my HAPPINESS," so the letter read.

"At 32, I am finally starting to figure it out. In good times and in bad, you were there. Your strength and endurance to raise me will not go unrewarded. My love for you is my strength!" it continued. "For the rest of my life I will reflect on the unbelievably GREAT times we've shared and will continue to share. You're my best friends!"
