'Supergirl' Casts Superman Villain Metallo for Season 2

Frederick Schmidt has been tapped to play John Corben a.k.a. Metallo in multiple episodes of season 2.

AceShowbiz - A major Superman villain is coming to National City. Frederick Schmidt has been cast as Metallo on "Supergirl" and will appear in at least two episodes, starting with the season 2 premiere scheduled to air on Monday, October 10 at 8 P.M. ET on The CW.

According to EW which first reported the news, "when international assassin John Corben is badly injured after taking on both Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin), he is reborn by a shadow organization into the Kryptonite-powered supervillain Metallo."

Metallo was first introduced in the comic books in 1959's "Action Comics" #252. There have been many iterations of the character, all of which usually involve some form of Kryptonite-powered suit or cybernetic enhancements.

Brian Austin Green previously brought the villain to life on the small screen in season 9 of "Smallville".

Season 2 of "Supergirl" will also feature guest stars, including Lynda Carter as President of the United States, Chris Wood as Mon-El, Sharon Leal as Miss Martian, Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, Ian Gomez as Snapper Carr, and Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer.
