After releasing its first-look images two years ago, the live-action adaptation of Mattel's toy line has just got its first international trailer.

AceShowbiz - It's been more than two years since several images offering the first look at Ben Winchell as Max McGrath in "Max Steel" movie were released. To confirm that the live-action adaptation of Mattel's toy line is actually coming to the big-screen, Open Road Films has just released the first international trailer for the film.

The footage shows Max having some burning scars before attacking Steel in his bed room. The pair later team up as he and his new techno-organic extraterrestrial companion are seen combining energies to face off the villain known as the Ultralinks. "Max, the Ultralinks are here to destroy the Earth. And your energy is the only thing that can stop him," Steel says. "We have to work together Max."

The video also offers glimpses of Maria Bello as Molly McGrath and Ana Villafane as Sydney Gardner. Andy Garcia's Dr. Miles Edwards can also be seen speaking to Max, saying, "Your father wanted to save the world." Director Stewart Hendler describes him as "one of the keys for Max to unlock and figure out what the heck is up with his powers and what happened to his dad."

Having previously been adapted into video games and TV series, "Max Steel" is a superhero-origin story about a 16-year-old named Max McGrath whose body inexplicably starts to generate massive energy bursts that he can't control. After he meets Steel, a techno-organic extraterrestrial, the duo forms a symbiotic relationship that harnesses their combined energies.

Also starring Billy Slaughter, Josh Brener, Mike Doyle, Phillip DeVona and Lawrence Kao, the film is directed by Hendler from a script written by "Thor: The Dark World" scribe Christopher Yost. Initially scheduled to make its way out in 2015, the action film is now set to hit U.S. theaters this year on October 21.
