Savitar will be the second major villain besides Dr. Alchemy on 'The Flash' season 3, while Lundgren will appear in flashbacks in Russia on 'Arrow' season 5.

AceShowbiz - Dr. Alchemy is not only main villain on "The Flash" season 3. It has been confirmed that the mystery speedster, who was spotted squaring off with Wally West a.k.a. Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) in recent set photos, is none other than Savitar.

Savitar first appeared in DC Comics in 1995. He was originally a Cold War pilot whose plane was struck by lightning, granting him super speed power. Naming himself after the Hindu god Savitr, he learned how to create a null inertia force field around himself and heal his injuries at a dramatically rapid pace.

The upcoming season will also feature the return of Gorilla Grodd. "Yes, we're going to be doing a two-part episode that takes place in Gorilla City," said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg at The CW's TCA panel on Thursday, August 11.

As for the Flashpoint storyline, star Grant Gustin revealed while the effects would linger, it wouldn't last as long as some people may expect. "[Flashpoint] won't necessarily last as long as some people are expecting it to last, but there are permanent effects on the rest of the show," the actor said. "There's not a complete departure from all the relationships that have existed."

In other news from The CW's DC series, "Arrow" has added action movie vet Dolph Lundgren to its cast for season 5. The actor will play a villain with a tie to Oliver Queen's past in Russia. "In our flashbacks in Russia - we're set in Russia this season - we are going to be bringing in Dolph Lundgren as one of our big bads," said executive producer Wendy Mericle.

Lundgren will play Kovar, who was mentioned by Taiana in season 4. Mericle teased, "We are going to bring him in and he's going to be this super big badass guy who works for the Russian government, and is not a friend of Oliver or the Bratva. It's part of Oliver's promise to Taiana at the end of season 4 and it's going to be interesting because it's going to get complicated and very messed up very fast."

Kreisberg additionally revealed that one of the existing characters on The CW's superhero shows, including "Arrow", "The Flash", "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" and "Supergirl", would be reveled as gay this season. "One of the characters on one of the shows is going to be exploring their sexuality and coming out," he said, gushing, "We're very excited about that."

Exec producer Greg Berlanti chimed in, "It is a significant character. The only reason we wouldn't [say] is we really want the audience to enjoy the character developments and not necessarily be ahead of the storyline."
