Blake Lively Doesn't Want People to Celebrate Her Post-Baby Body
Celebrity

The actress says women shouldn't be obsessed with losing their weight right after giving birth because they 'just did the most incredible miracle that life has to offer.'

AceShowbiz - Blake Lively doesn't find it flattering when people praise her post-baby body. During her appearance on Australia's "Sunise", the actress slammed people who put pressure on new moms to quickly lose their weight after giving birth.

In an interview to promote "The Shallows" that premieres in the country next week, Lively talked about the "physical challenge" of starring in the shark movie and filming it just eight months after welcoming her now 2-year-old daughter James.

After the interviewer praised her body in the film, she called out body-shamers out there, saying, "It's so unfair though, because it's so celebrated. It's like, 'This is what someone can look like after a baby.' I think a woman's body after having a baby is pretty amazing."

She went on to urge women everywhere to stop thinking about quickly losing their weight after delivering a baby. "You don't need to be Victoria's Secret ready right away because you just did the most incredible miracle that life has to offer," she explained. "I mean you gave birth to a human being! So I would really like to see that celebrated."

Lively, who's currently pregnant with her second child with husband Ryan Reynolds, isn't the first actress and mom who has recently spoken out about people's obsession with post-baby body.

Anne Hathaway also talked about the topic in a powerful message posted on her Instagram page on Monday, August 8. "There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever)," wrote the 33-year-old, who gave birth to her first child in March. "There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all)."
