The director has shared a new picture featuring 'the purple man in the floating chair' on Instagram which description is similar to that of a supervillain known as Thanos.

AceShowbiz - Marvel unveiled a lot of footage of its upcoming films at San Diego Comic-Con. But with "Thor: Ragnarok" still in early stage of filming, there was no footage being screened at the convention. Director Taika Waititi, however, hinted at the connection between Thor and Thanos as the director screened a short mockumentary at the Hall H panel.

Panelgoers got to see a reel packed with concept art, and a short film lensed by the director showing Thor's whereabouts during "Captain America: Civil War". The short film showed Chris Hemsworth's Thor taking a vacation from his superhero life while also trying to figure out who exactly "the purple man in the floating chair" is.

The information the God of Thunder gathered was similar to the description of Thanos, a fictional supervillain appearing in the MCU who is known as the strongest Titanian Eternal. He first appeared in 2012's "The Avengers", with Damion Poitier providing the voice. In 2012's "Guardians of the Galaxy", he was voiced by Josh Brolin and was introduced as the adoptive father of Gamora and Nebula who tried to obtain an Infinity Stone. Waititi now shared a new picture featuring the purple man on Instagram.

Thor is investigating who is after the infinity stones.

In other news, actress Tessa Thompson has shared a new picture from the set. The image gives a look at a sword which her character Valkyrie will wield in the upcoming film. The caption read, "Day 18 update: I have a lot of bruises. And suddenly abs from laughing so much. And I never want to not have a sword again."

The third "Thor" movie also stars Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins who reprise their respective roles from "Thor: The Dark World". Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban and Mark Ruffalo are also joining the cast.

Taika Waititi directs the film from a script written by Stephany Folsom. It's based on characters created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby. Kevin Feige is serving as producer. "Thor: Ragnarok" hits U.S. theaters on November 3, 2017.
