The 'Teenage Dream' hitmaker urges the crowd at the Democratic National Convention to 'have an open mind' and vote for Hillary Clinton before launching into a performance of her new single 'Rise'.

AceShowbiz - Katy Perry aptly helped close the 2016 Democratic National Convention with a victorious roar for Hillary Clinton. The 31-year-old took the stage on the final night of the DNC on Thursday, July 28 to show her support for the former Secretary of State, who is running for the White House.

The "Wide Awake" songstress began with a speech to urge people to vote for Mrs. Clinton. "Both of my parents are pastors, and staunch Republicans," she said. "I didn't finish high school and unfortunately I don't have a formal education but I do have an open mind and I have a voice."

She continued, "So I'm asking you to have an open mind and to use your voice, because on November 8th, you'll be just as powerful as any NRA lobbyist. You'll have as much say as any billionaire. Or you can just cancel out your weird cousin's vote, if you like. It's not where you come from; it's what you grow into."

Katy then launched into a performance of her new single "Rise" and then segued into her 2013 hit "Roar".

On Thursday, Hillary Clinton accepted her party's nomination for the U.S. President. "We are clear-eyed about what our country is up against. But we are not afraid. We will rise to the challenge, just as we always have," she said in front of her supporters at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

She added, "Don't let anyone tell you our country is weak - we're not. Don't let anyone tell you we don't have what it takes - we do. And, most of all, don't believe anyone who says, 'I alone can fix it.' " She also called for unity, saying, "Every generation of Americans has come together to make our country freer, fairer and stronger. None of us can do it alone. That's why we are stronger together."

Besides Perry, Demi Lovato, Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Darren Criss, Chloe Moretz was another celebrity who declared her support for Mrs. Clinton at the DNC. She said on the stage, "I am so excited to be able to say that my first vote for president will be for Hillary Clinton."

She also urged youngsters to use their rights to vote, "What's wild is that nearly four out of five young people actually stayed home in the 2014 congressional elections. Imagine what can happen if we all make our voice heard this November at the ballot box."

The 19-year-old actress was surprised by her boyfriend Brooklyn Beckham who came unannounced at the DNC. "Look who surprised me !!! We are Ready to watch @hillaryclinton make history..," she wrote along with a selfie with the son of former pro soccer player David Beckham.

Look who surprised me !!! We are Ready to watch @hillaryclinton make history.. (Tune in at 9:18 for my speech xox)
