The comedienne calls for unity while endorsing Hillary Clinton after admitting that she was part of 'Bernie's movement' at the Democratic National Convention opening night.

AceShowbiz - Sarah Silverman got mixed reactions when delivering a speech at the Democratic National Convention opening night on Monday, July 25. One of the speakers at the event, she declared her support for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton while admitting that she earlier supported another presidential hopeful, Bernie Sanders.

"I'm Sarah Silverman and I have been feeling the Bern. Relax, I put some cream on it," Silverman joked. "As some of you know, I support Bernie Sanders and the movement behind him. And Bernie has already succeeded in so many ways. Not only did Bernie wake us up, he made us understand what is possible and what we deserve."

She continued, "Hillary heard the passion of the people, the people behind Bernie and brought those passions into the party's platform, and that is the process of democracy at its very best. And it is very cool to see. Hillary is our democratic nominee and I will probably vote for her."

She added, "I am proud to be a part of Bernie's movement. And a vital part of that movement is making absolutely sure that Hillary Clinton is our next president of the United States. Booyah! Bababooey!" After she declared that she would vote for Hillary, some in the audience who didn't agree with her chanted, "Bernie! Bernie! Bernie!"

The 45-year-old comedienne responded, "Can I just say to the 'Bernie or Bust' people, you're being ridiculous!" She quickly added, "They told us to stretch so I figured I'd add that."

Following her speech at the DNC, people took to Twitter to praise her. "Brava @SarahKSilverman! Comedians will save the world. #DNC," Joy Behar tweeted. E! News host Catt Sadler added, "Thank you @SarahKSilverman for being brave, illuminating, and clever. Representing so beautifully. #DNCinPHL."

Some others, however, weren't impressed with her remarks. "Sarah Silverman helps get berners to hate Hillary and then says WE are being ridiculous," one Twitter user commented. "We'll remember this. Have fun losing the general."

Earlier that night, Demi Lovato took the stage at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia to raise awareness about mental illness before performing her hit "Confident". Eva Longoria and Michelle Obama were among other speakers, while Boyz II Men also performed at the event.
