AceShowbiz - Pippa Middleton is reportedly engaged to her boyfriend James Matthews after a romantic proposal last weekend. According to a new report, James popped up the question to Pippa on Saturday, July 16 when they enjoyed a stroll in the Lake District.
While the couple paused to enjoy a beautiful scenery from the summit, James "was dropping to his knees and preparing an even more spectacular sight - drawing out a stunning diamond ring from deep within a pocket," according to Daily Mail. Pippa was "completely and totally surprised" by the proposal but accepted it at once, according to a friend. The wedding reportedly will be held next year.
Prior to the proposal, James asked Pippa's father for permission for his daughter's hand. "James is a traditionalist and very much wanted to do things properly," a friend of the couple says, "That meant getting his future father in law's consent." Another family friend says, "Mike and Carole are very happy. They like James and they are sure he will make Pippa very happy."
Pippa first dated James in 2012 before they called it quits. The couple reunited in 2015 after Pippa split from Nico Jackson.
Pippa and James both "love physical challenges." Another friend says, "Pippa has swum the Bosphorus, climbed Mont Blanc and cycled across America. It makes them a good match. Earlier this year they completed 33 mile cross country ski race in Norway."
"James He worked very hard from an early age," the friend continues, "He's a smart chap but also the sort of bloke you would be proud to call a friend. He made a huge amount of cash from hedge funds and some more from the London property market. We're talking millions here and you don't do that by the age of 40 unless you are a sharp cookie. And James is very bright."
"With his parents out of the country in the Caribbean and his younger brother Spencer still a schoolboy, a huge burden fell on James. I have to say he was incredibly impressive. He's a smart chap but also the sort of bloke you would be proud to call a friend," the friend adds.
While attending the Frost Summer party on Monday, July 18, Pippa fueled engagement rumors as she hid her left hand behind her back while posing for pictures.
