First 'Blade Runner 2' Concept Art Shows Dystopian Los Angeles
Movie

Two concept art pieces feature a view of the futuristic city, which looks darker than the one in the original 'Blade Runner', and a snow-destroying machine.

AceShowbiz - As principal photography of "Blade Runner 2" begins this month, two official pieces of concept art of the film have been released. Director Dennis Villeneuve reveals the artwork via Entertainment Weekly to show fans the first look at the dystopian Los Angeles in the untitled Blade Runner project.

One of the pictures features the view of the futuristic city which looks darker than the one in the original "Blade Runner" starring Harrison Ford. "That note of music, seeing Los Angeles in 2019, that smog, that darkness. It's really the movie that gave birth to my desire to become a director," the director says.

"The climate has gone berserk - the ocean, the rain, the snow is all toxic," Villeneuve adds. It also literally explains what the function of the big vehicle pictured in the other concept art is. It's a kind of snow-destroying machine that hovers over the streets and blows snow.

Though the plot details are still kept under wraps, Villeneuve confirms that the events take place several decades after the original "Blade Runner". The screenplay is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green.

"Blade Runner 2" marks the return of Ford as Rick Deckard. It also stars Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Dave Bautista and Mackenzie Davis. The second installment of "Blade Runner" film is set for an October 6, 2017 U.S. release.
