The Captain Salazar of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' is courted for a big role in the untitled Universal monster movie.

AceShowbiz - Javier Bardem is eyed for a major movie role. According to a scoop from The Hollywood Reporter, the 47-year-old actor is in early negotiations for a new take on Frankenstein as part of Universal's plan to create a cinematic universe for their classic monsters.
It's unclear if Bardem is courted for the role of Dr. Victor Frankenstein who brought a man from the dead or the mad scientist's grotesque creation. It's also not known whether he will lead a standalone movie or become a player the planned monster crossover pic.
The Spanish star is expected to join Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe who will star in the Sofia Boutella-starring "The Mummy" reboot. He was reportedly originally up for the role of Jekyll/Hyde which eventually went to Crowe.
