Chaka Khan pulls the plug of her summer concerts and seeks help for prescription drug addiction with her sister.

AceShowbiz - Chaka Khan has checked into rehab in an undisclosed location. The 63-year-old singer cancels her concerts to focus on her battle with prescription drug addiction. She enters rehab with her sister, Yvonne Stevens or known as Taka Boom.

"Unfortunately, I will miss concert appearances over the summer," she said. "However, it's vital that I put my health and well-being first. I know that I am disappointing some of my fans, but I also know they would want me to recover and be well and healthy."

The death of her close friend Prince was a wake-up call for Chaka Khan. The "Purple Rain" hitmaker was found dead at his Minnesota home on April 21. An autopsy revealed he died of an overdose of fentanyl, a powerful opioid painkiller.

"The tragic death of Prince has had us both rethinking and reevaluating our lives and priorities. We knew it was time to take action to save our lives. My sister and I would like to thank everyone for their support, love and prayers," Khan said. "We would take this journey together and support each other through the recovery."

Among her canceled gigs was California State Fair on July 11. She is replaced by Jody Watley featuring Shalamar Reloaded. "We are extremely disappointed Chaka Khan canceled because we knew how much the community was looking forward to it, yet at the same time we wish her the best in her health and full recovery," a rep for the event said.

Chaka Khan has been open about her struggle with drugs. She admitted to taking cocaine in her 20s and almost died after taking two sleeping pills. "I have battled addiction my entire life. Life has not been easy and I am very lucky to have made it this far," she once said.
