The One Direction member claims the media is invading his son's privacy and preventing him from providing 5-month-old Freddie with 'a normal, private and protected childhood.'

AceShowbiz - Louis Tomlinson just wants his son Freddie to grow up as normal as possible. Amid custody battle with his baby mama Briana Jungwirth, the One Direction hottie has issued a statement in which he asks media to respect the little guy's privacy.

In the statement released via his rep on Friday, July 1, Tomlinson said that he wanted Freddie to have "a normal, private and protected childhood," but "the levels of paparazzi attention on Freddie are intolerable and completely unjustifiable."

According to the 24-year-old singer, paparazzi have been taking photos of him and his baby all the time, including during his visitation time with his son and at doctor's appointments. They have also been following the baby even when he isn't with his superstar dad.

"Louis appreciates, respects and values his relationship with the media and we hope he and his son are afforded the same respect on this matter," the statement added.

Tomlinson made the request a day after he filed for a 50/50 physical and legal custody of Freddie. He and his ex Jungwirth have been in custody war since their son was born in January and they reached a temporary agreement regarding his access to the baby. However, he now wants joint custody of the boy, claiming his time with his son has been "inconsistent" in recent weeks.
