The fifth installment of the 'Underworld' film series will not arrive in theaters as expected before on October 14.

AceShowbiz - Moviegoers who have been waiting for the sequel to "Underworld: Awakening" may get disappointed as "Underworld: Blood Wars" will arrive later than expected. Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment have announced via Box Office Mojo that the movie's release date is moved from October 14 this year to January 6, 2017.

No additional information is available regarding the delay. However, with the new release date, the film will be up against another horror film, "Amityville: The Awakening", which stars Bella Thorne, and Doug Liman's biographical thriller "Mena", starring Tom Cruise.

"Underworld: Blood Wars" features Kate Beckinsale who reprises her role as Selene. The film also marks the return of Theo James and Charles Dance from the previous film as David and Thomas respectively. Trent Garrett replaces Scott Speedman in the role of Selene's lover, Michael Corvin. British actors Tobias Menzies and Lara Pulver take on the roles of a formidable new Lycan leader, Marius, and a fiercely ambitious Vampire, Semira, respectively.

The film is directed by Anna Foerster. Cory Goodman pens the script based on characters created by Kevin Grevioux, Len Wiseman and Danny McBride. David Kern, Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi, Len Wiseman and Richard Wright produce the film through Lakeshore.
