Ansel Elgort Is in Talks to Star in 'Dungeons and Dragons' Reboot

The 'Divergent' actor is in talks to star in Warner Bros.' fantasy film which is based on a role-playing game of the same name.

AceShowbiz - Ansel Elgort is in early negotiations to star in "Dungeons & Dragons" reboot, Deadline reports. The "Divergent" actor will play the lead role in the fantasy adventure movie which is based on the role-playing game of the same name.

"Dungeons & Dragons" became popular through the late 1970s and 1980s. Numerous games, films and cultural references have been made since then, including the 2000 version of "Dungeons & Dragons" film. It starred Jeremy Irons, Thora Birch, Bruce Payne and Marlon Wayans. The film centers on a warrior and his band of mystical creatures as they embark on a dangerous journey to find a mythical treasure.

Rob Letterman ("Goosebumps") is on board to direct the upcoming reboot. David Leslie Johnson ("The Conjuring 2") writes the script. Hasbro's Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis, Sweetpea Entertainment's Courtney Solomon and Allan Zeman as well as Roy Lee will produce the reboot.

Elgort's film debut was a secondary role in 2013's "Carrie". His first widely-publicized role was in "Divergent" as Caleb, the brother of the female lead character Beatrice Prior (Shailene Woodley). The young actor later reunited with Woodley as the main character in "The Fault in Our Stars". His latest project is "Baby Driver", which is in post-production. The actor will next be seen in "Billionaires Boys Club" alongside Emma Roberts and in "November Criminals" alongside Chloe Moretz.
