Movie

The actor, who previously voiced several villains on the original 'Power Rangers' TV series, will play the alien mentor Zordon in the upcoming movie reboot.

AceShowbiz - Bryan Cranston has announced on Twitter that he will play Zordon in upcoming "Power Rangers" reboot. The "Breaking Bad" alum previously voiced several villains on the original "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" TV series.

"Excited to play #Zordon in the #PowerRangersMovie! T or F: #BlueRanger Billy Cranston was named after what actor?" he wrote, referring to the fictional character William "Billy" Cranston a.k.a. the Blue Ranger whose last name came from the actor's name.

In a 2013 interview with IGN, Cranston recalled his "Power Rangers" stint, "One of my jobs as a young actor starting out was voiceover. I also did dubbing. A lot of dubbing and a lot of voiceover. So foreign films would come in and I'd go in. One of the places that did a lot of that was Saban Entertainment. And they would take movies and then cartoons from all over the world and we'd go and do the English dub."

"And the 'Power Rangers' came in and I did some voices for that," he continued, "I had already been there for a number of years, just as a freelance guy coming in and coming out. And it paid like $50.00 an hour, which was fantastic. And you'd work two, three hours at least a day. So I had been there for awhile already and then the 'Power Rangers' came in."

An official teaser poster for "Power Rangers" reboot, starring Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G, Ludi Lin and Elizabeth Banks, will be released on Wednesday, June 22. The movie will hit U.S. theaters on March 24, 2017.
