People want the Young Money raptress to say something about the tragedy, which happened last week at a gay nightclub, since a lot of her fans are part of LGBT community.

AceShowbiz - Nicki Minaj caused quite a stir on Twitter after she unfollowed a fan who criticized her. Earlier this week, the raptress took to Twitter to promote her new song with DJ Mustard and Jeremih, and that's when the fan expressed disappointment over the fact that she had yet to say anything about the mass shooting in Orlando.
The fan who goes by Johnny on Twitter said that he's "kind of offended that Nicki could tweet about a song but can't acknowledge the shootings in Orlando." Minutes later, he returned to the micro-blogging site to reveal that Minaj had just unfollowed him. "LMFAOOOO NICKI UNFOLLOWED ME FOR MY TWEETS," he said and shared a proof in another tweet.
Nicki unfollowed me because I called her out for promoting her song and not even acknowledging the tragedies. pic.twitter.com/4Vf58qTPxD

Minaj's decision to block the fan only worsened the situation. Some fans defended the Trinidad-born superstar, saying she's not "obligated" to speak on social issues. Meanwhile, some others argued that she should say something about the tragedy since a lot of her fans were part of LGBT community.
@NICKIMINAJ is not obligated to comment on Orlando. Neither are the other artists y'all trying to drag. °¯¿½¯¿½¯¿½

"Interesting that the majority of @NICKIMINAJ fan base are gay men yet she has been MIA about Orlando.. But is quick to clap back and block," a Twitter user said. "I love love love Nicki Minaj, but how do you have a huge gay fan base and not acknowledge Orlando? And instead promote a new song," another similarly shared. "Nicki Minaj was more vocal about not getting nominated for a VMA than about the Orlando shooting smh," another user added.
. @NICKIMINAJ would not have a career if it wasn't for the LGBT community, yet she can't be bothered to mention Orlando when we need support

I'm bothered by the fact you haven't said anything about the Orlando shooting, @NICKIMINAJ esp when such a huge part of your fans are gay °¯¿½¤¯¿½

The thing with Nicki Minaj is that she's not even being silent about Orlando, she's acknowledging and laughing about her lack of a statement

Minaj hasn't responded to the backlash. She has been busy promoting her "Don't Hurt Me" on social media by retweeting fans and posting links to article about the song, which came out last Wednesday, June 15.
