Movie

Watch Tom Cruise's titular character back in action to help Cobie Smulders' Susan Turner who is accused of espionage.

AceShowbiz - "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" is not coming out until October 21, but the first footage of the movie has been released for viewing pleasure. Making its way out via Entertainment Tonight, it is introduced by Cobie Smulders who jokingly refers to Tom Cruise as "a little known actor."

The video begins with showing Cruise's titular character on the run and threatening the bad guy. Another scene shows him in an eatery, being apprehended by two local sheriffs but the table are turned and one of the officers ends up being arrested.

Smulders is Major Susan Turner who is the new commanding officer. When Reacher visits the headquarters of his old unit, the 110th MP, to meet Turner, he learns that she's arrested for alleged espionage.

Believing that she has been set up, Reacher gets Turner out of prison. So the two team up and have to relies on their brains and fists to survive. "He's alone and he's sort of in his element and then he couples up with me and all hell breaks loose," Smulders teases.

Edward Zwick takes over the helming duty from Christopher McQuarrie who directed the 2012 "Jack Reacher". The official synopsis for the upcoming sequel reads, "Former military cop Jack Reacher makes it all the way from snowbound South Dakota to his destination in northeastern Virginia, near Washington, D.C.: the headquarters of his old unit, the 110th MP."

"The old stone building is the closest thing to a home he ever had. Reacher is there to meet - in person - the new commanding officer, Major Susan Turner, so far just a warm, intriguing voice on the phone. But it isn't Turner behind the CO's desk. And Reacher is hit with two pieces of shocking news, one with serious criminal consequences, and one too personal even to think about."
