Artist of the Week: Ariana Grande
Music

The singer's 'Dangerous Woman' single recently reached No. 8 on Billboard Hot 100 as its parent single debuted at No. 2 on Billboard 200.

AceShowbiz - In less than five years, Ariana Grande has transformed from a teen star into a "Dangerous Woman". The 22-year-old singer shows just how dangerous she can be on her latest album, which came out last month.

The mature and sensual record, previously announced as "Honeymoon", made its debut on Billboard 200 at No. 2. It became Grande's first studio effort to miss the chart's No. 1, but has helped her score another big hit.

The title track, which serves as the first official single, recently reached a new peak on Billboard 200. First debuting at No. 10 upon its arrival in April, it spent weeks outside of the top 10 before returning to the region earlier this month as it hit No. 8.

Co-written by hitmakers Max Martin and Savan Kotecha, the track turns out to be important for Grande, who began her career in the Broadway musical "13" and then appeared on some Nickelodeon shows including "Sam & Cat".

"I was like at a pivotal point in my life where I was making changes," she explained in an interview with Music Choice. "I was...doing what I felt in my gut. I was listening to myself, and it felt so good."

"I felt so empowered as a person and the lyrics...the song met me at the right time in life, and it was just the weirdest... most cosmically weird thing," she continued. "The verse lyrics make me like super emotional because I feel like I can super relate to those."
