Michael Jace breaks his courtroom silence at his sentencing, saying that he didn't plan to kill his wife April during their argument two years ago.

AceShowbiz - Michael Jace is sentenced to statutory maximum of forty years to life in prison in his wife April's murder. The former "Shield" actor was convicted of second-degree murder last month by a Los Angeles jury for killing his wife during a heated argument two years ago.

Jace said at his sentencing that he didn't plan to kill his wife. "There is no justification for my actions on that night at all," he said. "I am profoundly sorry for the pain that I have caused everyone - everyone who knew April and loved April. There is no replacing April."

"Second-degree versus manslaughter, it doesn't matter, neither verdict brings her back. But I thought it was important (to say) that I didn't commit first-degree murder. There was no premeditated anything," he added. "I realize it doesn't bring her back. It doesn't help."

April's mother Kay Henry shook her head in disgust and stormed off the courtroom, saying she didn't want to listen to "this sh**." Meanwhile, Michael continued, "There's nothing more to say. I'm sorry. I'm sorry."

Prosecutors initially charged Michael Jace with first-degree murder in April's killing which was partially witnessed by her two young kids. Michael's lawyer convinced judge to be more lenient, claiming that his client acknowledged he fatally shot his wife and regretted his action done only the heat of passion.
