Los Angeles Sheriff's Department is conducting 'an inquiry regarding the unsubstantiated allegations' against the weight-loss TV program.

AceShowbiz - "The Biggest Loser" is facing serious accusations. Los Angeles Sheriff's Department has launched a preliminary investigation into the reality TV show following reports about illegal drug use on the set.

Lieutenant James Royal says, "In May, 2016, a journalist advised Malibu/Lost Hills station personnel of a news report regarding unsubstantiated allegations of illegal narcotics use in the past on the set of the television reality show, The Biggest Loser. The show was filmed in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County within the Malibu/Lost Hills station area."

He adds, "Based on the information contained in the news report, Malibu/Lost Hills Station personnel are conducting an inquiry regarding the unsubstantiated allegations."

The probe comes after season 2 contestant Suzanne Mendonca told New York Post that contestants were encouraged to "take amphetamines, water pills, diuretics, and throw up in the bathroom" in order to shed weight. She said, "They would take their spin bikes into the steam room to work up a sweat. I vomited every single day. [Trainer] Bob Harper tells people to throw up: 'Good,' he says. 'You'll lose more calories.' "

The show's producers vehemently denied the accusations, "We believe these allegations are without merit and false. The safety and well-being of our contestants is, and has always been, paramount. Contestants are told at the start of the show that there is zero tolerance for any weight-loss drugs. We prohibit the use of any illegal substances, in addition to the many other rules and procedures of the show that are designed to ensure safety."

Harper also dismissed the drug rumors, "These allegations are absolutely false and are also in direct conflict with my lifelong devotion to health and fitness. Safety is paramount in my training regimen."
