Will There Be More 'Matrix' Movies? Here's What Joel Silver Says
Movie

The 'Matrix' trilogy producer weighs in on whether or not more sequels or a remake could happen.

AceShowbiz - Joel Silver candidly opened up about the possibility of continuing "The Matrix" franchise while making the press rounds for his latest movie "The Nice Guys". Joel was asked whether "Matrix" could ever extend, or even be remade.

"We haven't talked about it yet. I hope there'll be a time we can do that at some point," the 63-year-old filmmaker told Loaded, "That was very seriously designed as three stories and that was it, but we'll see what happens."

While Joel doesn't close the door on ever revisiting the world of "The Matrix", his statement "seriously designed as three movies" makes it pretty clear that there's no reason to make a fourth Matrix movie, leaving the idea open to a remake.

Following the success of "The Matrix" trilogy, the Wachowski sisters have released a few cult favorites in the sci-fi genre including "Jupiter Ascending" and "Cloud Atlas". The duo are currently working on the second season of their hit series "Sense8", which will premiere later this year.

It's unclear if Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne would be interested in coming back to the "Matrix" franchise. The duo recently reunited for "John Wick: Chapter Two".
