A new report says that the director, whose debut feature 'White Girl' received critical acclaim at Sundance, had a private meeting with Marvel last week to discuss 'potential directorial duties.'

AceShowbiz - Another name is considered to helm the upcoming "Captain Marvel". Just a few days after reports emerged that Marvel was approaching Emily Carmichael, We Got This Covered now says that Elizabeth Wood is also wanted to direct the film.

According to the site, the studio's representatives held a private meeting with Wood last week "in order to discuss potential directorial duties." The meeting apparently happened thanks to Wood's producer-husband Gabriel Nussbaum with whom Wood has worked on all her professional projects.

Fans may not be familiar with Wood, but her debut feature "White Girl" received acclaim from critics upon screening at Sundance earlier this year. Featuring "Homeland" star Morgan Saylor as a college student who falls hard for a bad boy and then goes to wild extremes to get him back, the film received a Grand Jury Prize nomination and a seven-figure digital distribution deal with Netflix after the festival.

"Captain Marvel" was originally planned for July 2018 before it was moved to November the same year and eventually pushed back again to March 8, 2019. Emily Blunt has been rumored to lead the project, but she has never confirmed it.
